​Hello to the Ted Harrison School Community,

I wanted to take this time to introduce myself as the newly-appointed Principal at Ted Harrison School.  I am Dr. Don Barbor and will be assuming the position of Principal beginning December 13, 2023. I look forward to supporting the work of students, school staff, parents, and community partners in the promotion of a welcoming learning community based on the ethics of care, equity, inclusion and excellence. 

I have been a school administrator for over 20 years. I am passionate about public education as a cornerstone in the development of healthy students, families and  communities. I acknowledge it to be my duty as your school principal to be diligent  in providing engaging, rigorous academic programming that is accessible to all learners regardless of background, ability or financial status. It is within the partnership of school, family and community working together for each student, everyday, no exceptions that we will achieve our individual and collective success. 

As I move into the position as Principal of Ted Harrison Middle School I see this as a sort of coming home. Early in my career I was the Principal of Terry Fox Junior High School. During my tenure at Terry Fox Junior High, Ted Harrison was being built, and I was involved in supporting both the school and the community in welcoming Ted Harrison Middle School to the Taradale community.  I learned alot about the strength of the Taradale and surrounding communities during this time and I am eager to return. 

 I look forward to meeting and working with students, parents, school staff,  family members and community members. Relationships work best with open, honest, respectful dialogue, I encourage you to reach out at any time.
