I hope that with the better weather families are able to open those windows, get outside and start to move into activities more reflective of the spring and summer months to come.

We are now a few weeks into the second half of the school year. I hope that through the report card process, student/parent/teacher conferences and continual conversations with your student(s) and their teacher(s) that you have celebrated the successes to date and have made plans for future learning.

You will see a number of surveys this spring. CBE and Ted Harrison School use the information gathered through these surveys as much as families use the information on report cards. CBE and Ted Harrison School want to know what is going well, if efforts made in certain areas are having the desired impact, are the voices of all acknowledged and are future efforts moving the system and school in the desired direction. Our grade 7 students and a random selection of grade 7 parents will be receiving the Alberta Assurance Framework Survey within the month of March. Also, within the month of March, our grade 5,6,8,9 students will complete the Our School Survey, which is a Calgary Board of Education internal survey. This month all homes will receive an email from Ted Harrison School with a link to a Ted Harrison Survey. If your family receives a survey link via email, please provide your thoughts and input by completing the surveys. This information is greatly appreciated and is very useful in supporting students, families, and communities into the future.

As many families are aware our school facility staff at CBE are on job action. The CBE has updated schools, families and communities concerning this job action and efforts to ensure that students can continue to attend school. Please continue to read these updates from CBE on the Labour Action page.

Ted Harrison School is continuing to have student issues resulting from social media. Many students are feeling harassed as a result of group chats. It is important to monitor your student's technology. Should a student be using technology in a manner that bullies, creates discomfort and/or disrespects students, staff, or the community of Ted Harrison School, school consequences including suspension may result.

I hope that families take the opportunity to provide input into the school through completing surveys that are provided. This information is very helpful in understanding how the school is supporting students and efforts that could promote further success. I thank the community of Taradale for your continued support of Ted Harrison School.

Sincerely,

Dr. Don Barbor
